How to Stop Wasting Tempera Paint for Good!

I learned this trick from the best TAB teacher in the world, Kathy Douglas. I was her student teacher.  Lucky me, right? So, if you're sick of wasting tempera paint... STOP! All you need to do is find some ice cube trays and saw them in half.
Teach students how to use their paint. "Dance, Dance, Dance" their dirty brush on the bottom of the water can and then "Dab, Dab, Dab" it on a damp sponge. When students put their trays of paint back simply stir the paint (add paint if necessary) and it is good as new! I save SO much paint this way.

At night, I simply cover the trays with tin foil (I use the same pieces for at least a few weeks) and voila! It is PERFECT in the morning. On Fridays, I'll soak the trays and start over on Monday... but we RARELY go through too much paint. For palettes, we use magazine pages that can easily be thrown away. The painting center can be one of the easiest centers to manage!
